Organisers of forthcoming events, those running school or community research projects, and anyone seeking advice on archival research or display are also welcome to make contact. The publication is supported by universities, academic historians, archivists and museums specialists across the region, and its main objective is to provide a shared publications platform for local history groups and researchers.
Submission Guidelines
The magazine accepts articles about the region's past, covering any period and any aspect of local history, archaeology, architecture or heritage. Recent features have explored topics ranging from Roman road networks to the preservation of industrial sites. Articles can be up to 1,500 to 2,000 words in length. Features and news stories of up to 500 words are also welcomed. Illustrations and photographs are encouraged and help to bring articles to life for readers.
The magazine typically publishes two issues per year, with cut-off dates for submissions in May and December respectively. Contributors are encouraged to make contact as early as possible if planning to submit work, so that the editorial team can advise on content and scheduling.
Editorial Support
The editorial process is collaborative. The team works with contributors to develop their research and writing, offering guidance on structure, sources and presentation. This support extends to both experienced authors and those new to writing about history. The aim is always to produce content that is both accessible to a general readership and faithful to the historical record.
